About Carthusia
Carthusia is a legendary perfume house originating from the picturesque island of Capri, Italy. According to lore, the brand's origins trace back to 1380, when the father prior of the Carthusian Monastery of St. Giacomo was unexpectedly visited by Queen Joan I of Anjou. To honor her visit, he arranged for the most beautiful flowers of the island to be arranged in the same water. After three days, the water was infused with the fragrance of the flowers, leading to the discovery of the first perfume of Capri. The Carthusia brand, as it is known today, was formalized in 1948, with the revelation of these ancient formulas to a Capri chemist, who obtained permission from the Pope to recreate the scents.
Carthusia is revered for its commitment to traditional methods, using locally sourced, natural ingredients to craft its perfumes, which are a tribute to Capri's flora and the island's storied history. Each scent is said to be produced in limited quantities, ensuring the highest levels of quality and attention to detail. Known for fragrances like "Fiori di Capri," Carthusia offers a blend of historical romance and Mediterranean charm, capturing the essence of Capri's natural beauty and its rich cultural tapestry in every bottle.
